  LANGUAGE SKILLS The four skills of language (also known as the four skills of language learning) are a set of four properties allow an individual to comprehend and produce spoken language. These skills :   Listening skill  Speaking skills  Reading skills  Writing skills.  The order of these skills must be listening first, then speaking, then possibly reading and writing.                                   What is Listening? Listening is the  skill require in native language. It is known as a receptive skill, or a passive skill,  it requires to use ears and brains to comprehend language as it is being spoken. It is the first of two natural language skills, that are required by all natural spoken languages. What is Speaking? Speaking is the language skills acquire in native language. It is known as a productive skill, or an active skill,  it requires to use vocal tract and brains to correctly produce language through sound. It is the second two natural language skills. SPEAKING SKILLS   It is our natural mode of communication through which exchanging our ideas, share information and express feelings. Speaking means making a speech to an individual or a group of people for the purpose of delivering and transmitting our ideas to others. You will learn how to discover and present information clearly. READING SKILLS The most important subskills of Reading are Skimming and Scanning. SKIMMING & SCANNING Skimming and scanning are reading techniques that use rapid eye movement and keywords to move quickly through text for slightly different purposes. Skimming is reading rapidly in order to get a general overview of the material. Scanning is reading rapidly in order to find specific facts. While skimming tells you what general information is within a section, scanning helps you locate a particular fact. Skimming is like snorkeling, and scanning is more like pearl diving. Use skimming in previewing (reading before you read), reviewing (reading after you read), determining the main idea from a long selection you don't wish to read, or when trying to find source material for a research paper.
